
The Family Health Institute (FHI) is a company that evolved from the merging ideas of two leaders in the childhood obesity field, Keith Levick, Ph.D. from the Center For Childhood Weight Management (CCWM) and Paul Ehrmann, D.O. from the Children's Health Initiative Program (CHIP). Combined, Drs. Ehrmann and Levick have over 20 years of experience treating overweight children and families, and preventative medicine. The mission of the FHI is to implement, deliver and sustain a lifelong medically supervised family behavioral-educational healthy living program for overweight children and families.

The Center For Childhood Weight Management (CCWM), a community-based program, was established in 1987 by Keith Levick, Ph.D. (see biography). Due to the increase of obese children, there is a need for a professional treatment program. Over the years, CCWM has grown into numerous sites helping hundreds of children and families across the
CCWM is a behavioral-educational program for children and adolescents 5-14 years of age that use a variety of techniques for weight management. These psychological, behavioral and physiological techniques are designed to help children and families become more aware of unhealthy eating behaviors and help create lifestyle changes.

The award winning Children's Health Initiative Program (CHIP), developed by Paul Ehrmann, D.O., (see enclosed biography) is led by community health professionals in partnership with schools, businesses and education leadership. The purpose is to engage local communities with the intent of creating a healthier populace, utilizing the childhood obesity battle as an initial entry point foothold toward improving the community’s overall health. CHIP is composed of networks of local community health-care educators and providers, from the medical, dietary, culinary, physical fitness, and mental health fields
The five-week-long CHIP model is standardized so it can be applied and expanded in every community for any age group; however it is flexible enough to be customized according to the needs of a community.
